The national election campaign officially started the 28th October in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), exactly one month ahead of historic presidential and legislative elections, scheduled for November 28 2011. 41 humanitarian and human rights organizations, among them AEFJN, have expressed concern about the high political tension and deteriorating security situation. They have called upon all Congolese and international actors involved to take urgent measures to prevent electoral violence, better protect civilians and ensure credible, free and fair elections.

Tamborrada contra las bombas de racimo
Más de un centenar de personas convocadas por las ONG han celebrado hoy en la Plaza de Sant Jaume de Barcelona la entrada en vigor del Tratado de Prohibición de estas bombas
Hoy domingo ha entrado oficialmente en vigor el Tratado de Prohibición de las Bombas de Racimo. A partir de este momento queda prohibido el uso, la fabricación, el almacenamiento y la venta de estas armas que afectan en un 98% de los casos a población civil. Tras más de dos años de campañas de presión, conferencias internacionales y negociaciones, finalmente el tratado es un realidad.
En Barcelona, la celebración se ha hecho en la Plaza de Sant Jaume dónde más de un centenar de personas se han concentrado a las once y media junto al La Colla de Tabalers del Poble Sec, que ha sido el grupo encargado de realizar la tamborrada festiva. Después, Jordi Armadans, de la Fundació per la Pau, Meritxell Bennasar, de Greenpeace, y Lucia Oltra del Moviment per la Pau, han explicado la relevancia del Tratado y la importancia del trabajo organizado de la sociedad civil por conseguir hitos como este.
